About Iveta:
Iveta can be found in the woods, racing furiously forward alongside her dog. Devoted to literature, she is an active member and permanent fixture of the Scandinavian Book…

Club at House of Languages.

Her relationship with Sweden and the Swedish language began long ago when she earned her master’s degree in business management at Stockholm University. Iveta worked as a Latvian-Swedish translator for a while before taking a leading position as a financial auditor working for large companies in Sweden, Finland, and Latvia.

You might think she’s not a typical language teacher — why would someone with a job like that also teach language?

Iveta is not only interested in financial reports, Iveta is also interested in people. Her greatest motivation as a teacher is to provide teaching tools to develop students personally and professionally. Her work as a teacher is assisted by her long-term experience in leadership. She has learned that people achieve great things when they know what to do and how to work and cooperate. It is not enough for Iveta to merely provide lessons and get her students to learn while in her classroom; she also wants to help her students practice and achieve independence in the learning process.

About Marta:
Those who know Founder Marta think she may have been Sami in a past life, …

…because every summer she migrates North of the Arctic Circle towards the reindeer and the midnight sun. She possesses a primeval force, which manifests when she sings folk songs (which she can do in twenty different languages) or when she bursts into hearty laughter. Marta’s sound is known to fill House of Languages.

Twenty years ago, when she started her studies at the Latvian Academy of Culture, Marta entered the world of the Norwegian language. Therein she dwells to this day, translating children’s books and teaching Norwegian.

When we light up with passion and even forget that we’re learning, we learn best. For this, we have Marta’s charm and colour.

…Language is also close to him: improvisation, sound, rhythm, and fulfilment are expressed both in music and in language. Wojtek took his first steps in a small village in Western Poland, where his love for German was gradually growing. He discovered a new language close to his heart when he launched his journey into Norwegian studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań; these studies led him to Norway, where he continued to develop his skills.

Wojtek is like a water bearer who waters you with a joy in a drought. If your mood hasn’t improved after a lesson with Wojtek, then it’s hard to see what could possibly make you happy…
